Expanded functions using plug-ins

RICOH THETA V and THETA Z1 support expanded functions using plug-ins. Various plug-ins add new features to the THETA just like installing apps on a smartphone.

In addition to Ricoh genuine plug-ins, many plug-ins developed by companies and individuals worldwide have also been released. Install a plug-in that matches your use from the RICOH THETA PLUG-IN STORE to create a RICOH THETA that is even more useful and easy to use.

Note: A computer and THETA basic app for computer are required to install the plug-ins. It is not possible to install plug-ins from a smartphone.

How to install a plug-in:

1.Use the included USB cable to connect THETA to a computer.

2.Click the install button for the plug-in to install from the RICOH THETA PLUG-IN STORE.

3.The basic app for computer starts. Follow the on-screen instructions to install.

How to select the plug-in to be used:

With THETA V, you can start the selected plug-in from the Mode button on the camera. It is possible to register one plug-in type to the THETA V camera and three plug-in types to the THETA Z1 camera.

If you want to use any other installed plug-ins, you must change the plug-in to be used from the basic app for computer or the THETA basic app for smartphone.

Changing the plug-in from the THETA basic app for computer

1.Start the THETA basic app for computer.

2.Select “File” – “Plug-in management” from the menu.

3-1. (For THETA V) Select the plug-in to start from the plug-in list.

3-2. (For THETA Z1) Select three plug-ins to assign to the camera.

*You can switch between the three plug-ins by operating the Mode button on the THETA camera.

Changing the plug-in from the THETA basic app for smartphone

1.Start the THETA basic app for smartphone and then connect THETA over wireless LAN.

2.After connecting over wireless LAN, tap the icon at the bottom left of the shooting wait screen in the THETA basic app.

3.Tap the “Settings” icon at the bottom right of the thumbnail screen.

4.Tap “Camera settings”.

5.Tap “Plug-in”.

6-1. (For THETA V) Select the plug-in you want to use.

6-2. (For THETA V) Tap “Start plug-in” when starting the plug-in from a smartphone.

*The plug-in can also be started by pressing and holding the Mode button on the camera.

6-3. You can also select advanced settings for when shooting by tapping the icon on the far right of “Starting plug-in”.

*This icon may not appear depending on the type of plug-in. (Example: Self-timer Locked)

7-1. (For THETA Z1) Select the three plug-ins you want to use on the camera.

*Specify shooting settings in 6-3 if necessary after tapping “Start plug-in” when you want to start the plug-in from a smartphone.

*The plug-in can be started by pressing and holding the Mode button on the camera.

*All three plug-ins cannot be used at the same time.

<How to start the plug-in from the THETA camera>

THETA V:
・Start the plug-in by pressing and holding the Mode button on the camera. When the plug-in starts, the lamp on the THETA camera changes from blue, which is used during normal shooting, to white.

・When you are finished using the plug-in, press and hold the Mode button to end its use.

THETA Z1:
・Start the plug-in by pressing and holding the Mode button on the camera. Select the plug-in you want to use on the camera from the three plug-ins selected using the above procedure to enable its use.
